Sanjhi

Next: Sunday, 11 October 2026.

Sanjhi is a nine-night goddess made by girls on the courtyard wall: a face, eyes, nose ring and a skirt of hundreds of clay stars pressed into fresh cow-dung plaster. Girls sing to her every evening of Sharad Navratri and float her away in the village pond on Dussehra.

Dates are calculated for Kurukshetra; local panchangs may differ by a day when a tithi spans two sunrises.
